Relocation & Schools

Moving your family to Geneva? We find the home, get the children into school and deal with the paperwork, so that things work from the day you arrive.

We start with the schools. In Geneva, places at the international schools go quickly and applications open early. Once we know where the children will be, we look for a home close by.

Then there is the Swiss side of things: registering when you arrive, health insurance, which is compulsory within three months, a bank, a car, internet. None of it is hard, it just takes time. We do it for you, and come back to you when we need a signature.

The kind of thing we are asked

  • A house with a garden near the school, ready for September.
  • Two days of viewings and school visits while we are in town.
  • Places for three children of different ages, in the same school if possible.
  • Health insurance, a bank account and a car within the first month.
  • Someone to let the movers in while we are still abroad.
  • A paediatrician who speaks Portuguese.

Questions

How early should we start?

Earlier than you think, because of the schools. Three to six months is comfortable. Less is possible, it just leaves fewer choices.

Can you get us a residence permit?

We prepare the file and follow it, together with an immigration lawyer. The decision itself belongs to the authorities.

Do you only handle moves to Switzerland?

No. Geneva is our base, but we handle moves elsewhere in Europe too.
